Why it matters
Weight matters on a small dog. Fi says the Mini weighs 0.56 ounces and measures 1.18 by 1.65 inches, and it attaches to any collar through a silicone case.
Good to knowFi's product page states up to 2 months on one USB-C charge, while its shop page states up to 6 weeks, or up to 2 months with the Fi Base. Plan around the lower figure until you see your own dog's usage.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Your dog is small or you dislike bulky trackers
- You want to keep your existing collar or harness
- You want long gaps between charges
Look elsewhere if
- You won't pay for a plan
- You want the integrated, chew-resistant design of the Series 3+
Pros and cons
Pros
- Very light (0.56 oz)
- Clips to any collar
- IP68 water rating in salt water (maker)
Cons
- Plan required
- Fi publishes conflicting battery figures (6 weeks vs 2 months)
- A clip-on can be lost with the case if the collar comes off
Limitations to weigh
- Tracking depends on cellular coverage; no tracker works everywhere.
- Battery figures are maximums under Fi's conditions.
